MAINTENANCE
2100 Firmware Updates
AFFECTED MODEL: Flo-Lab 2100

To check the version of the firmware you are currently running, follow the procedure outlined in "Verify Firmware Version" below.

Download latest firmware (1.09I) -

fw109i.exe

  • Firmware version 1.09i adds support for latest revision of the microcontroller.
  • Firmware version 1.09b corrects the issue with the Pleth settle time reverting back to MEDIUM instead of staying on previous value.  Also allows Sonova to communicate more appropriately with the firmware so custom site settings are maintained (ie, Output Filter, Doppler frequency, Modality, etc.)
  • Firmware version 1.09a corrects the issue with the chart recorder turning on unexpectedly when saving waveforms in Sonova 3.52.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING FIRMWARE:

    • Download the latest firmware file from the link above.
    • Place a blank floppy diskette into drive A:.
    • Run the downloaded file.  It is a self-extracting archive file and will extract the necessary files to the A: drive.
    • Take the floppy diskette to the 2100 Flo-Lab's computer.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPGRADE:

If installing under DOS -

  • Exit out of the VIP program.
  • At the DOS prompt, type A: and press ENTER.
  • Type '2100dl' and press ENTER to begin the firmware download.  You should see this screen -

  • Once this is complete, press and hold the "MENU" button on the 2100 Front Panel and press and release the "RESET" button on the 2100 Front Panel at the same time.  The 2100 should beep and the lights will flash indicating a reset.  If it does not beep and flash then you are not getting a reset and will need to try again.
  • The Firmware is now updated.

If installing under Windows -

  • Exit out of the Sonova program (if loaded).
  • Click on the Start Menu.
  • Click on Run.
  • Type 'a:\windl' into the open box.
  • Click OK.
  • A window should pop up indicating the download status, as shown below -

  • Once this is complete, press and hold the "MENU" button on the 2100 Front Panel and press and release the "RESET" button on the 2100 Front Panel at the same time.  The 2100 should beep and the lights will flash indicating a reset.  If it does not beep and flash then you are not getting a reset and will need to try again.
  • The Firmware is now updated.

TO VERIFY FIRMWARE VERSION:

  • Press the "Menu" button on the 2100 Front Panel 12 times.
  • The display should read:
    -12- CHKSUM F0D4
    FW: V1.09I
  • If this is what your display shows, then the firmware has been upgraded succesfully.  If your checksum differs from the number shown, run the download again.

FIRMWARE SETTINGS -

These are the menu settings on the front panel of the Flo-Lab.  To navigate through the menu, hit the MENU button.  UP and DOWN adjust the individual parameters.  The BLEED/DEF button exits the menu and saves your settings.

-1- PLETH. SETTLE TIME: SLOW, MEDIUM OR FAST.  Leave this at FAST for most situations.

-2- SIGNAL A & B ARE (NOT) SWAPPED.  Allows you to swap channels A and B.

-3- CLEAR ALL INDICES.  Clears the saved Segmental pressures from the front panel.

-4- DUAL CHANNEL WAVEFORM or SINGLE CHANNEL WAVEFORM.  Specifies single or dual channel waveforms.

-5- EXTERNAL SIGNAL OFF/ON.  Normally set to OFF.  Only set to ON when using external signal generator plugged into 1/4-inch phone connector on back labeled EXTERNAL INPUT.

-6- BP SLOW FILL RATE 1-30 mmHg/s.  Defaults to 30.  Adjusts the rate of inflate when slow filling.

-7- BP SLOW FILL START 50-200 mmHg.  Defaults to 100.  Slows the inflate down at this pressure to prevent overfill and patient discomfort.  Adjustable in increments of 5.

-8- VPR CAL. SEQUENCE ON/OFF.  Turns ON and OFF the VPR calibration sequence.  Defaults to OFF.

-9- VPR CAL. A FACTOR.  Calibration factor for channel A of the PVR system.

-10- VPR CAL. B FACTOR.  Calibration factor for channel B of the PVR system.

-11- BLEED RATE  1-10 mmHg/s.  Defaults to either 3 or 5 (depending on your firmware version).  When set to 5, it should bleed from 200 to 100 in 20 seconds.

-12- CHKSUM xxxx FW: Vxxxx.  This gives the Checksum value and version of the currently installed firmware.

-13- AUTO BLEED AFTER INFLATE ON/OFF.  Specifies whether you want the Flo-Lab to bleed automatically or not.  In all versions previous to 1.09, it defaults to OFF.  In 1.09A and 1.09B, it defaults to ON.
